Umrah

Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca, Umrah, performed by Muslims at any time of the year, unlike Hajj which has specific dates during the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. Umrah means "to visit a populated place" in Arabic. It involves performing a series of rituals, including Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba), Sa'i (walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah), and shaving or trimming the hair.

  • The main rituals of Umrah include Ihram (state of consecration), Tawaf (circumambulation of the Kaaba seven times in a counter-clockwise direction).
  • Umrah is a highly recommended act of worship in Islam, though it is not compulsory like Hajj.
  • Pilgrims usually prepare for Umrah by ensuring they are in a state of physical cleanliness and spiritual readiness.
